Somewhere I saw a cool picture of a 28mm miniature being stored in a dice box, but when I went to look for a printable model of such a thing, I couldn't find one. So I grabbed a box of Chessex dice, dumped the dice in a cup, cracked out the calipers and fired up Fusion 360 and set about to make one. And here it is! For optional convenience, and because I love magnets, it accepts a 6x2mm magnet which allows your miniature to magnetically attach to the base rather than solely relying on a friction-fit (I glue 1" fender washers to the base of all my miniatures for this purpose). There are 2 versions of the miniature adaptor, the original made for miniatures with 1" round bases and and a version made for miniatures with a 1" square base. I think it's a great way to use all the dice boxes that tend to accumulate and makes for a stylish miniature protector.
After uploading the dice box insert/miniature holder, I was pointed at a decorative plinth that would accept the cover of a dice case, but it fit a little loosely for my taste. I modified it so that it fit around the base of the dice box, thus providing a decorative touch without sacrificing the mechanical stability of the design. I think it looks fantastic! Using it is optional, of course. :)
Happy printing and happy gaming!
